Smithsonian App Note: Raman Analyzes Aviation Glass

The MiniRam II portable Raman spectrometer by B&W Tek has aided in the exploration of plastics from the early 20th century, conducted by the Smithsonian.  The goal was to present a chronological history of how plastics influenced aviation technology.  These studies successfully show the ability of Raman spectroscopy to measure the composition of historical plastics.  One article focuses on aviation plastics, while the other focuses on the working distance of a fiber probe when identifying plastics (including those of aviation).
