Orbital Raster Scanning (ORS)
SAVANNAH uses ORS® Orbital Raster Scan technology to distribute the laser over a circular sampling pattern.
Better Sampling
Traditional Raman systems measure a single, static point, making results sensitive to sample heterogeneity and localized heating.
ORS® Orbital Raster Scan takes a different approach. By moving the laser in a controlled circular pattern, ORS distributes laser energy across a larger area while collecting a more representative Raman response. The result is improved sampling with reduced burn risk and less point-sampling bias.
Representative Measurements
Interrogate more of the sample to reduce the effects of heterogeneity, improving confidence in Raman identification.
Reduced Localized Heating
Distributing laser energy lowers energy density at any one point, helping minimize burning and sample degradation.
Better for Real-World Samples
Ideal for powders, tablets, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other materials where composition can vary across the sample surface.
ORS Inside the SAVANNAH Raman Module
ORS is integrated into the SAVANNAH OEM Raman module, reducing optical alignment and subsystem integration and helping OEMs move more quickly from concept to production. We support every stage of development—from application evaluation and prototyping to system optimization and production integration.
