Webcast: The Evolution of Miniature Spectrometers

The Evolution of Miniature Spectrometers

In this one hour instructional webinar on Wednesday, 10/24/12 at 12pm EDT, we will discuss the fundamentals of modular spectrometers and how they have evolved into a modern spectroscopic tool. The course instructor will first provide a brief overview of various spectrometer designs and how the different optical components can be configured to optimize the system’s performance for a desired outcome. We will then discuss the advantages of fiber-optics for sampling and easy reconfiguration as well as the advantages of “smart spectrometers” which utilize embedded onboard processing to improve speed, synchronization, and signal-to-noise.  The second half of the course will provide an overview of many common applications of miniature spectrometers. Applications to be covered include (but are not limited to) reflectance, absorption, transmission, emission, and fluorescence.  An open question and answer session will immediately follow the presentation.  To register for this free webinar, click here.
