785 nm System
The best compromise of Raman signal strength and fluorescence rejection. Learn more about the different performance tiers below.
Step 2: Choose Your Spectrometer and Performance Tier
Why is the choice of the detection module important?
The second decision in designing your DIY Raman system is choosing the spectrometer performance tier. The data quality of Raman spectra, often reported as the signal-to-noise (SNR), is greatly influenced by the choice of the detection module and its characteristics.

Choose Your Spectrometer and Performance Tier
We offer three tiers of performance in our pre-configured 785 nm Raman DIY kits. Each higher tier improves signal intensity, decreases noise, or both for higher quality results.
Basic Tier
The Basic Tier is our entry level, using the Glacier T spectrometer, providing lower price point without sacrificing performance. It is ideal for exploring Raman applications, basic research, teaching, and OEM’s targeting lower price-point end products.
- High throughput (F/2.2)
- Entry-level detector
- Temperature-stabilized performance

Professional Tier
The Professional Tier is our mid-level performance system, with a significant step up in data quality while extending the Raman shift coverage. The perfect platform for routine laboratory quality analysis.
- (> 80% QE) for faster analyses
- Wider dynamic range
- USB 3.0 for faster data transfer
- Deeper cooling for lower noise

Research-Grade Tier
The Research-Grade Tier is our best performing platform with the deepest cooling for significant noise reduction. This Tier also offers an optional HT mode* for the best possible performance. The ideal platform for cutting-edge research requiring the highest level of sensitivity or faster update times for monitoring dynamic processes.
- Lowest noise with the deepest cooling (-25 °C)
- Offers a High-Throughput option with up to 5x more signal
- Fastest analysis times
